The Ice Battle was a clash between the Republic of Novgorod and the Livonian branch of the Teutonic Knights on April 5, 1242, at Lake Peipus. All the 32 playing pieces are unique. Board is made of hardwood with intaglio carvings and amber coat of arms. Measures 63×63 сm (24.8”×24.8”). Average size of the chess pieces is ~ 10 см (3.9”). Amber, wood, silver, brass, gilded foil.
