Since its foundation in 1979 the team of Tsarskoselskaya Amber Workshop dedicated all their time and efforts to the most difficult work of recreation of the Amber Room for the interior of the Catherine palace. The work was intense; fears and doubts of the critics and restorer colleagues doubled and tripled the wish of our craftsmen to put all their talent and skills in this project. That is the reason why the Amber Workshop could not find even a few free days to dedicate to an exhibition not to be distracted from their major work.
However in 1998 Tsarskoselskaya Amber Workshop managed to participate in a mutual exhibition «Chemistry of amber» together with the State Museum Preserve of Tsarskoye Selo. It was held in several cities of the United States, including New York and San-Francisco. Having achieved success in our first exhibition practice, we have decided to take part in international traveling exhibitions annually.
In the year 2000 an exhibition of the items of Tsarskoselskaya amber workshop was held in the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Tokyo, Japan. In 2001 together with the State Museum Preserve of Tsarskoe Selo and support of Ruhrgas Energy Corporation an extensive exhibition took place in Dortmund, Germany. Since 2006 Tsarskoselskaya Amber Workshop has taken part in an annual restoration exhibition in the Louvre Museum.
The most recent of our exhibitions took place in the beginning of 2009 - Tsarskoselskaya Amber Workshop held an exhibition in Aachen, Germany; and in December we participated in the Second Festival of Russian Art «The Winter Garden», which took place in a wonderful Italian city of Bari. The Festival was held with patronage of Svetlana Medvedeva – the First Lady of Russia, the wife of our President.
Triumphant opening of the Amber Room has proved great skills of our craftsmen, consequently many people from all countries of the world showed interest in our work. Every travel exhibition now, as many years back, allows us not only to prove our status in restoration, but to awake interest for the world of Art, to show boundless possibilities of expressing your feelings and emotions in stone. To sow the seeds of admiration for Arts, to prove its modernity in the XXI century is also considered to be our goal – we see thriving of our craft in succession, no matter the nationality of those who want to follow our steps. To them we are ready to give all our knowledge.
To draw public attention and Maecenas to the problem of restoration of the lost objects d’art heritage is one of the most important aspects of our exhibitions.
Today the Amber Workshop takes part at least in five exhibitions a year. Every time having the opportunity to show our work we are glad to share our talent and Art perception with our visitors. To see Your interest – is a great stimulus in completing our new projects.
